The Mount Salkantay (6 372 m) is considered a sacred mountain since the time of the Incas. During this trek, we will be able to see from close range its impressive icy walls. The trek starts from a pleasant little town named Mollepata. As we walk up the trail, the snow capped mountains at the end of the valley. The first one to appear is Humantay, then, the impressive Salkantay. Our trekking continues on the other side of the mountains in the tropical valley of the Cusichaca river, passing by the village of Huayllabamba where the Inca Trail starts. We will then continue, travelling through the valley of the Vilcanota river, until Pisacucho or the 82nd kilometer of the railroad track connecting Cusco to Machu Picchu where our bus will be waiting for us to get us back to Cusco.
